dredd was fantastic. nailed it. i could watch thirty more.

Apparently, a sequel is really unlikely because it bombed. Why did it bomb? In part due to the failure to capitalize on the throngs of 14 year-old kiddies wanting to see the latest 3D movie.

Fucking. Sad.

Dredd: 6.5/10

...The whole thing reminded me of watching Robocop when I was kid...

Dredd -...

..I enjoyed every minute of it in the same way I enjoyed Robocop as a kid,

:wtf:

kon-tiki - 4/10, it starts with this wide-eyed idealist vibe that i liked but as it progresses it turns into a complete hollywoodish cheese and cliches salad, some very pretty shots though.

still don't understand why Malick is held in such high regard, Thin Red Line was ok i guess. Definitely not among the best war films though, nor is Apocalypse now, but hey thats just my opinion.

What would be some of your favs?

it's a hard call, Paths of Glory is among my recent favorites. Three Kings has also grown on me quite a bit recently. Apocalypse now is a great film, im just being hard on it unnecessarily

Das Boot and Army of Shadows for sure.

If we count it as a "war" film, then Battle of Algiers is at or near the top, too.

Iron Eagle 2, Navy Seals, Delta Force.

Downfall?

Underground - probably too much of a stretch for 'war movie' but it is excellent.

Zero Dark Thirty - I honestly didn't know what to expect of this. But it was really good. Really, really good. Not as good as the hurt locker, but still.
