you guys quit way too easily...

The only thing I quit was your mom, last night, but in a Brokeback Mountain sense, it could be said that I can't really quit her (although I wish I could)

that's the spirit!

This whole saga has left me on the edge, I don't know whether to crave more releases or settle for what we have.

28 Organ.... n_______n my gf said that it was 'nice' (melodies) but not something she would listen to. That's an accomplishment in my books!

yeah I mean i dont what so start some gender discussion but i seems his rougher, metallic 90´s stuff he uploaded ( the first 90 tracks ) is mostly for men ears ?

does someone know girls who listen to ventolin or 73 yips ? just curious

My girlfriend put me on to Ben Frost's latest album, I reckon that's almost more menacing than RDJ's industrialish stuff.

Yeah I'd agree. I saw Ben play Aurora live and it was so loud that it caused me to hallucinate.

i heard he started bringing actual guitar amp stacks on stage with him, was that one of those shows?someone told me he was using a lot of clever guitar vst amp trickery to get by before that, sounded convincing though

I saw him play By The Throat and some other tracks at EMPAC during his residency there [some of AURORA was created using field recordings taken in one of the concert halls, iirc]. The bass was so intense my internal organs were resonating, I started to feel sick and it was to date the best live show I've been to.

big water ez doesn't have nearly enough plays you guys.

Listened to them all twice now (some more), which doesn't seem like much but that's over 22 hours! Anyway I think more or less all of them have something great about them, definitely preferred the second play. The only tracks I'm not really feeling so far are Pink Floyd and Parking Lot, I can't get past the samples, seems really un-Aphex like to be so obvious. Do you think they may be some of his oldest recordings, when we was starting out and using the samples as a basis?

80s tite is excellent! Anyone know what album this is off?

yes, it's from an old soviet electro record called 'pulse 1: musical computer' by a. rodionov and b. tikhomirov

cheers

wait, what is this conversation about? where is '80s tite'?

I really like Big Yellow Taxi for some reason so to have an AFX track sample it is a treat. I'm a bit less passionate about Pink Floyd (the track) but I think that's only because I'm oblivious to the band anyway.

Speaking of samples, the Robocop and Night Of The Living Dead tracks are amazing too, and the unusualness of such obvious samples makes them all the more interesting.

Richard uploaded and quickly took down a track apparently to test Soundcloud's copyright filter or something:

yeah I saw him live last week and he had a pretty huge guitar amp rig set up, but it fucked up halfway through his set and he threw the guitar down on to one of the monitor wedges, not sure if that was part of the performance :P

Lots of fucking ridiculous bass waves in his set!

You/she got the LP? It sounds better at 33 ;);)

Yup, it's sitting on a display thing above the record player amp in her loungeroom. I haven't heard it on vinyl yet though!

Ah yeah, Rodionov and Tikhomirov

http://valverdemusic.blogspot.co.uk/2008/11/va-pulse-series-soviet-electro-mega.html

The story I heard (can't remember where) was that these guys were making electro breakdancey stuff but in soviet russia the only way to get it released was to emphasise its use in exercise/training etc. Hence all the tracks on Pulse 1 are named to relate to sports etc.
