Wish I’d seen this at the cinema but it was impossible due to an injured spinal disc. I’m not a massive science fiction boffin but some of my favourite films of all time are from the genre ? ? ?

I kind of want Denis to fast forward to God Emperor of Dune so we can watch a mutant worm philosophize for 2 hours about the agony of being able to see into the future.

I never understood the criticisms of David Lynch's Dune, I think he kicked major ass by finishing the thing in one film. He just got it done.

I am reminded somehow of how some directors tried and failed to make Don Quixote. I wonder if there are other film adaptations in that class.

Lynch's Dune had more character in one minute than Villeneuveveve had in the entire film

he had an amazing challenge to work under the constraints of the studio and since i didn't read the book i can see and follow the film and i've rewatched it. maybe i have weird taste ? it could have or maybe should have been a miniseries but he solved that with Twin Peaks. Maybe Twin Peaks was a reflex from how Dune made him feel, like maybe it wouldn't exist if not for the Dune exercise.

Imagine if Lynch made Dune today. It would be a silent movie.
