Anyone else obsessed with quality? For as long as I can remember I have long felt that my money should only be spent on things that are actually worth the money. A lot of times I find this makes for expensive purchases, but I justify it by being extremely selective. I spend a lot of time doing consumer research and evaluating consensus about products before buying them. It's been a great way to cut past the bullshit and not waste money on things that do not last. What do you buy that will last you for life? I'll start: 1) Chrome backpack. NOTE: The original founders of Chrome now produce backpacks as company Mission Workshop. Chrome backpacks have gone downh…

Last month I decided that I spend way too much money on stupid shit that doesn't do anyone any good, so I've decided that I'm gonna spend an x amount of money on Kickstarters every month from now on. So lately, I've been backing Kickstarter projects that are either for a good cause, technology or ideas that can turn learning into a fun experience, games that I find interesting and that I would love to be working on, and so on. So if you've stumbled upon or read about an interesting, fascinating, or original idea that is up on Kickstarter then share it here. One day it might be one of us who have started a Kickstarter and need some help funding out ideas. One of t…

This day may not be enough to really let you thugs know how much you're appreciated, but I guess it's the best we can do as a world atm. We should support you 365 days a year IMO! Focusing a bit on electronic music, shouts out to the women making bleepbloops and the ones who paved the way for you to be able to do so. Some of my favorite musicians of the past couple years, Jlin, Holly Herndon, Bjork, Tinashe, Jessy Lanza, Laurel Halo, have done quite a bit to increase awareness (even if it's simply defying odds) and that's super cool! Keep flexxin it! *just don't use the 303 plz* http://www.thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-releases/the-pioneering-women-of-electro…

Nice to see sigils getting mentioned in the mainstream press. Anyone else use them? i've done 'em from time to time, i find them an artistic way of stating my intent and bringing what i intend to do to the forefront of my experience/consciousness. I don't believe in them. Most of them have worked. How i define 'working' i'm not so sure but strange outcomes have occurred and i'm in a better place than I would have ended up had i flapped around not focusing on what I intended to do and just floating rudderlessly thru life only doing what I thought others expected of me. Not sure if that is 'magick' or just decision making. Or maybe 'deciding to do magick'. As I said, …

pls - post less: I mean, Jesus! That's a lot of posts you got there. Right now, I can't find a thread where there isn't some of your "trolling". Guess what: I don't want to see it. - don't be a mod: you're everywhere, the things you say aren't the most enlightening.... it's like a party where the bouncer decides to choose the music... bully the band off stage, then do a 48h freestyle battle with himself.. no thanks. no offense, but thx.

https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/704873833564659712 what? I bought Serum last year, use it all the time in my tracks, and this guy could buy my net worth thousands of times over....like really? I'm trying to find out if this is fake or not, like I'm having a hard time believing this, but nope, actual twitter account. oh and he likes Sufjan Stevens I guess that's news too Btw Serum is an awesome wavetable synth.

http://gizmodo.com/scientists-are-still-arguing-about-that-chopra-bullshit-1762272253 Unsurprising, but it's interesting to see it actually studied. One study of course doesn't stand for much on its own, but worth mentioning....it at least seemed relevant to WATMM.

Interested to hear what other people think about when they go into a record shop and if there is no price on the item, the person in the shop says "Give me a sec" then proceeds to check Discogs right in front of you then sells you the record to you at the lowest available price. It happened to me in Ipswich at a specialist dance place. I found a Psychic TV record without a price on it, the person working there let me have it for the price on Discogs. The thing is I probably would have paid more than asked but it ruined the mystery of the record with unbeknownst value. I spoke to him and he said that no record shop could survive without using all avenues, the entire shops …

We've discussed Stor Eiglass on watmm before, and Oculus Rift, but not really Cardboard. Where Google Glass failed, Cardboard seems to be a better and more useful idea. With the VR industry finally dawning during this decade, it's cool to see Google do something to lower the cost barrier, and give the masses their first taste of VR at home, on a device they are already comfortable with, their smartphone. Now as the video states, you can download the instructions online and cut your own viewer at home from whatever big piece of cardboard you have lying around, or pay for a pre-cut viewer, branded or otherwise. I'm curious to start trying this out, and explore the myria…

ok guys help me out here.... if u might recall i built a PC about a year ago with p good specs 4.0ghz xeon 32gb ram 250ssd 3tb hdd for all my music i'm running foobar, u know the media player that is supposed to be FANTASTIC and super LIGHTWEIGHT... meanwhile I barely read flacs off my HDD without stuttering and clicking every fucking second. it's gotten worse too. now I will say that my "soundcard" is a kontrol s4 via usb and then to some M1 studio monitors. The drivers are up to date etc. Is this a kontrol issue or a foobar issue or a RAM issue? I'd hope that a computer like this would be able to read flacs and browse the web at the same fucking t…

a low-budget documentary about meth-heads and lunatics living off the grid who scavenge a military bombing range for ordnance and scrap metal. it's a gem. not the best-edited or organised, and the narrator could do with some coffee, but still captivating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4pFat3VTkI

So even though I was dissing her in the "films" thread for looking strange, I happened upon one of her youtube interviews last night, and found she's actually pretty goofy and funny. I like her interviews more than her acting. She should be on SNL if she hasn't been already. Anyone who can say "anal leakage" multiple times on Letterman is good in my book, but go ahead watmm, tear her a new one, you cynical bastards.
