I just got back from watching IT.

 

Jesus, what a bunch of fucking hype that was. I read the book back in the 80s when I was a kid and I enjoyed the mini-series in the 90s.

 

I went into this being led to believe it was going to be scary/disturbing on an Exorcist level.

 

Seriously guys, if you've not seen it, don't waste your money. It's like an extended episode of Stranger Things.

 

The scares are practically non-existent and the Pennywise in this version isn't remotely as good as Tim Curry's interpretation. If you want dark/disturbing, watch Twin Peaks, not this crap.

 

Cannot believe it's taken so much money. All aboard the Stephen King/Stranger Things hype train.

so the only girl character is reduced to a fucktoy in order to "strengthen" the friendship of the boys around her and also they're all children being written by a middle aged guy

 

this is truly the great american novel of our time

 

edit: and also isn't she abused by her dad before this? show me one sexual assault victim who wants to bone a bunch of guys in a row without years of counseling, let alone one that is 11

Oh sure. It had a point and it made it in a really fucked up way. Now I'm not sure what point "It" was making in that particular fucked up scene and it seems idiotic to try to defend it. But I enjoyed the book overall and I think overall it was less fucked up than American Psycho, is all I was trying to say.

 

And if you have a problem with fucked up art, what are you doing on an IDM forum?
