I know my last movie here had some pretty harsh reactions, but I'm going to present to you my 2nd attempt at a non narrative documentary for honest reactions. This one doesn't have up-beat or dancey music intercut with snuff footage, it's pretty ambient all the way through. Took me about 6 months to put this together, spent days mining Cspan and TV archive houses. Also another reminder of how much Glenn Greenwald is a bad ass (he is the surrogate narrator guiding the story) hope you enjoy edit: somebody already caught a typo with the word 'nuclear' and I'm planning on fixing that!

Alright guys, I know that some of you have to be homebrewers. There were a couple people in the Beer Review Thread that mentioned having homebrew kits. Have you started brewing yet? I just got the deluxe kit from northernbrewer.com because they had a 40% off sale. I started an American style wheat beer last night and I think I've discovered my new love. I've always loved hoppy beers and the smell of the hops before adding to the wort is fucking AMAZING. The whole apartment still smells of the malt a little bit, but I kind of like the smell (the gf doesn't lol). I've got about two weeks of fermentation in the primary before bottling and conditioning for another two …

been thinking about this topic for a while being the nerd i am. this is the other or "ugly" half of Hollywood, the people making less than millions, but more endearing and infinitely more talented than some of the "stars", especially the ones getting by solely on looks. they usually play the antagonist, or sidekick, but the really talented individual can parley a leading career into character roles as they age (Vincent Price is an excellent example). anyway, i love these guys Giovanni Ribisi (former child star now intergalactic corporate douche bag) Patton Oswalt (stand-up comedian has moved into dramatic and comedic film roles) Step…

I thought this was a pretty excellent article covering a subject usually hard to approach among people who are generally educated an anti religion but still choose to focus in on Muslims, which either consciously or not plays right into the hand of manufactured anti Islam sentiment spread by the US government and war on 'terror'. Since this subject has come up on the forum a few times and many here seem to think Hitchens was 'rational' in his anti muslim approach, i thought this might spark an interesting debate. thoughts? edit: really good video on why people like Sam Harris are actually intentionally and insidiously spreading pro-militarism through mis-directed …

Anyone here remotely interested in Rugby? I managed to get tickets for a couple of games. Off to see Ireland vs. Canada at the Millennium stadium this Saturday (not seen either team play before and never been to that Stadium). Also got a ticket for Ireland vs. Italy at the Olympic Stadium in October - again, never been to the stadium. Not particularly a fan of Ireland but that's just how the tickets worked out. England tickets were an horrendous price and its far easier to watch it on the telly. Keen to soak up the atmosphere and will probably end up supporting Canada this weekend.

Let’s have a bit of fun here. Before that let me tell you what’s going on here. Long story short: I have few instrument in the internet for sale. They’ve been in there about half of month and then some fellow named Taraba Yana said he will buy all of them (he could be a woman too). That would be like 1250e. I couldn't belive it first, but wait it's getting unrealer: this chump lives in Spain and he said that he has hes own shipping company. Right? He said that he will pay me through paypal and somebody will come here and pick my stuff in Finland. How the hell did he even find my sales ad? I've put my stuff only to finnish sites. It's a pretty old scam, see: https:…

Alright so got into a discussion on GM foods somewhere on the internet, and it's somewhat frustrating. First off because almost EVERYONE seems to disagree with me when I say that GM foods are not bad for you. So if everyone is against you, then chances are, you must be doing something wrong...right? Anyway I went into a googling frenzy, and couldn't find any evidence against GM foods that didn't feel like a conspiracy (yeah 'organic-foods-forever.com' )is totally not biased. I am actually wondering what "empirical evidence" anyone here may know of against GM foods. I prefer evidence concerning actual physical health troubles associated with the food, but you can bring up…

Dumb debate: Could any moderately talented and attractive singer, with the right team of marketers, businessmen, and lawyers behind them, be just as famous and successful as any other? Or is there actually something special about these individuals themselves? Or is it a mix of both.

Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle 1 2 3 4

Anyone else see this? New program on BBC2; Mostly stand-up, with a few sketches. This week the topic was books. Just watched it, and it was nice to see a comedy program on the BBC that actually credited its audience with some intelligence. It was also good to see Stewart Lee on television again. By contrast, earlier today I watched Horne and Corden (BBC3 sketchshow) which was unremittingly shite.
