So I've made a few guitars over the last couple of years and the most recent one turned out pretty well. There are a few things that I'm not psyched on, mostly due to design choices I would have made differently now but it came out well enough I've shared some photos of it on a few forums (including EKT). At some point down the road I hope to start making them for other people, maybe even making it a job some day if I'm lucky. So anyway, I was just checking in on one of the other forums, one I rarely look at these days, and it turns out somebody asked me about building him a guitar on commission. It's not someone I've ever talked to or recognize, and I'm not a part…

Hello. The baton has been passed, end of an era etc etc. Friendly Foil has retired as curator of the CHATMM compilations and Roasty and I have taken over. The next theme will be Academic Electronic Music. We mean this in a vintage 1930-1960/70 sense. Stiff audio experiments, geometric diagrammatic artwork, men in white/tweed coats, smoking pipes and toiling over vast machines with blinking lights spilling out ticker tape. Also, we'd appreciate it if you also submitted at least a paragraph with your track explaining what the concept was and how you went about executing it. 'show your working out' so to speak. FAQ: Yes. Wav …

I've noticed this board change a bit in the past few years with more people expressing interest in various aspects of what I would describe as a rising alt-right culture, by that I mean a trendy seemingly 'hip' version of right wing ideology. Probably the most mainstream example of this is Red Eye on Fox News but i've seen it now spread to many corners of the internet like for example the Joe Rogan podcast (where he has shifted more towards the right of the spectrum as a reaction to hyper sensitive liberalism). Other examples are the Anthony Cumia 'network' (lol) which now has Gavin McInnnes as a host (the co-founder of Vice who has now converted to Catholicism) These …

campaigns are hotting up, Libs seem to be coming out in the lead, at least in part because all the grannies think Trudeau is cute and want to affectionately pinch his cheeks I'm voting ABH and I emplore the rest of you to do so too, unless you like Harper, of course. He was in an episode of Murdoch Mysteries after all

Figured we could use a computer thread, since I couldn't find an already existing one. What operating systems do you guys use? I use Windows 7 myself, but I'm planning on switching to a linux distro when I get my SSD. I ordered myself the Samsung 850 EVO 250gb SSD from Amazon the other day for £68. I was considering going for a cheaper one of a different brand, but I've heard the Samsung SSDs are pretty reliable, and it comes with a pretty satisfying 5 year warranty. I spent an extra fiver to get it directly from Amazon too, since their returns and customer service (while not amazing) can at least be counted on more than some foreign supplier. Once I get it, I'll be m…

anybody with me on this? I think back on the 90s and it all just seems like a bizarre dream. well, I was born in 1989, so for me it definitely was a bizarre dream. but i think, unique to the 90s, is that everyone might agree on that. the 00s actually may turn out to seem that way. the earth spins, the sun goes up and goes down, but the sun and the earth have nothing to do with day and night. those two things are a figment of our lives. and our lives are just totally fucking weird when you think about it. so i guess all decades will be equally strange. the only difference with the 90s is that I personally was there. but on a cosmic scale it's v…

Electric Love Blueprint celebrates over 200 inventors, innovators, artists, composers and musicians who (in our opinion) have been pivotal to the evolution of electronic music from the invention of the earliest known sound recording device in 1857 to the present day. Key pioneers featured include Léon Theremin, Bob Moog, Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin. http://www.wearedorothy.com/shop/electric-love-blueprint-original-open-edition Some artists are probably to debate but I find this really nice !

So. It's official. I figure this show will be discussed to some degree on the forum. Hell, if Walking Dead has it's own thread, this should get it's own just on past merits alone. I'd watch, but I don't get Starz. http://screenrant.com/ash-evil-dead-tv-show-starz-bruce-campbell/

These new glasses with a high-tech coating MIGHT help you if your color deficiency falls within certain classifications. I was astounded at these vids of people seeing new colors for the first time, especially purple since that is my favorite color. The glasses aren't cheap, but they are custom made for your type of colorblindness (and prescription if applicable) and based on the fact that half the people in the videos cried after wearing them tends to make me think they are legit. The lens coatings have custom-tuned notch filters that block certain portions of light wavelengths where red/green and red/green/blue overlap each other, creating an artificial separat…

Trouble Mounting/Cloning an SSD Drive
by Guest Wall Bird- 4 replies

Hey all, I recently purchased a Samsung 850 EVO SSD drive (500 gb) to replace the spinning drive in my 2009 Macbook Pro. The first step for me is to clone the contents of my spinning drive to my new SSD before I open up the computer and replace it, but I'm running into a problem when I try to connect the SSD. I am connecting the SSD to my computer using a USB to SATA cable. After the drive mounts to my desktop it will usually dismount itself after 60 seconds or less, making it impossible to complete any kind of sizable file transfer. Have any of you encountered this problem before? I've done some searching online with no definitive answers, though it's being sugge…

So, working in retail at the Mall of America gives me the opportunity to come across all kinds of customers quite regularly... Including some rather unique and odd folks.Tonight I encountered the self proclaimed "Earth Sherriff", this guy claimed he works in intelligence (which probably just means running his batshit website) http://win50k.com/EarthSheriff.php You guys gotta see this shit, it's like the epitome of tinfoil hattitude He looked normal on appearance, like the kinda guy who could be some yuppie financial advisor or something... But, this dude proceeded to ramble to me for like 40 minutes about almost every cliche conspiracy theory and then some. As…

After being entertained to the point of soiling myself everytime i watch the dam thing, the South Park episode featuring Mel Gibson as zany film director is a classic. I walked around thinking he was a total loon. And he is. But in the good way. Even back in the good old mullet days of Lethal Weapon 1, there was that cunning glint of sweet insanity in his eyes. Back then of course it went virtually unnoticed, camouflaged beneath his dazzling eyes and boyish charms. But it's been scuttering around in Mr. Gibson for probably all his awesome life. This interview is tampered with of course. But it portrays a troubled genius, who loves trouble! In all his zanyness he come…
