i was gonna say "what about swimming with sharks?" and looked it up on imdb, and realized i've had kevin spacey confused with john cusack for over two decades.

If someone else doesn't watch A Town Called Panic soon I'm gonna snap.

dude was that the stop motion thing? with those guys from the milk adverts?

i remember watching that by chance when i was ill or hungover or something, was pretty cool.

i miss having a tv, i would always find the strangest films by surprise, stuff that i'd never ordinarily see.

A town called Panic is pretty funny, did you know there is also a tv series? It's just as fun as the film.

The episodes are only about five minutes long each, I think most of them are on youtube. I prefer the French language ones to the dubs, but whatever.

Yeah I was going to go for those as the bloke who presents Pointless does the English version, I wonder how often he says indeed in it.

watching captain america winter soldier. is okay but the marvel films just don't do it for me much anymore i'm afraid. ((cert doesnt hold up after recently re-watching terminator 2 woof what a film !!! ).

ok. finished watching.

6/10 or so ??

i thought everyone was saying it was 'one of the good ones'. ehh.. definitely not for me.

one thing i was thinking while watching it was ... at least its not the generic superhero film formula of giant alien/robot/thing destroying the city and the superhero destroying the alien/robot/thing and that being the film. it actually felt a bit more like a self contained movie.

and then the film didn't even have a proper resolution? i mean.. SPOILERS.

but the movie is called winter soldier. and the whole story regarding winter soldier is left unresolved and no resolution?

ugh. same old hollywood 'black matter'.

there was a line in the film where captain america's friend is like

"how do we know which ones are the bad guys"

and captain america replies "the ones that are shooting us".

that line really struck a chord with me. the whole film felt like that. just, pointless content be it cgi heavy stitched together action sequences or pointless dialogue thrown in to add duration to the film. why did i watch this film.

the first half to 2/3 of the movie is pretty good where most of the action is practical/stunts (that knife fight). the final act, yeah, is just mind numbing cgi destruction porn

I wonder when the superhero craze will be over? It started in 2000 with X-Men, then Spider-Man in 2002, then X-Men 2, Daredevil, and Hulk in 2003, then Hellboy, Spider-Man 2, Catwoman, and The Punisher in 2004... and in 2005 was when things went fucking nuts. It's been 13 years now. Maybe it's time for something new, no?

Oh wait...

yeah. i do wonder if there comes a time when the audiences going to the cinema to see the films drops to the point where making so many of the same films becomes financially a bad idea. as soon as that starts happening, they'll probably scrap the schedule and scrap the future films. but until then, they seem pretty content on pumping out the crap and having people buy tickets to the see the films.

i posted this over in the indiana jones thread. but i'll repost it again because i think there's some real truth in what he's saying.

yesss.. his delivery is fucking over the top and vile, and he comes across as a complete joke and is very easy to laugh at ... but i still think he's kind of hitting a nail on the head in regards to his overall complain regarding hollywood..

i feel like such a goose because ... as much as i'm aware of how bland and shitty hollywood is.. they still know how to get people buying tickets ((( ...

i bought tickets to and saw Force Awakens TWO times during december... and in hindsight.. it really felt like a rushed, kind of shallow film to me )))

I'm totally burnt out on superhero movies, don't plan on seeing any of the ones coming up (including Bat v Super).

But I did like Netflix's Daredevil, and I'm looking forward to season 2 coming in a couple days. I've enjoyed that show way more than any of the Marvel films I've sat through.

The comic movie boom has kind of paralleled the young adult SF & Fantasy boom that started ~ '01 with Harry Potter. I really think there is an endless appetite for seeing familiar multimedia franchises on screen.

We stuck with superheroes, plucky heroines and space wizards forever.

ye. have cooled off a smidge on the whole notion again recently. sure i may not like all the marvel/superhero/hollywood films but there are others who do and totally don't mind or give a fuck so much about seeing them and it is wat it is so no point me banging on about it i gess. (( the uwe boll rant did speak to me tho .. especially with captain american fresh in the mind .. was feeling every enlightened and enraged))

re-watched the big lebowsi. because can just about always enjoy the big lebowsi :^) out of 10.

watching the hateful eight a second time it was a lot better. maybe my favorite tarantino actually.

noooice. i wanna see this !!

kind of sad i missed out on the fancy film projection version that was doing the rounds recently ... but also kind of looking forward to seeing it in comfort of home especially with such a long one.
