So Magneto is laughing at you, cause all you can do is change the color of your urine. Or: Whistle really loud but your own hearing would be damaged Take huge steps all over earth, but only with one leg, so you'd always have to go back where you were in the first place. The inability to get wet from water while bathing, taking a shower etc. Go on drinking alcohol forever but never getting drunk Modify the sound of your farts

I crush on Erin Burnett when I watch her show on CNN and I always realize I haven't been paying attention to what she's been talking about. Who are your news anchor crushes?

Bit of an odd topic but could lead to some interesting conversation. I'm probably leaving myself open to trolling here but that's funny too so whatever :P I think it's related to what's going on chemically in your brain before you fall into a deep slumber but I've recently found an incredible sense of clarity and realisation about things just before I fall asleep. It's often related to my goals and dreams or simply about living well. It's a shame I can't document these fleeting thoughts of inspiration, realisation or wonderment. You get them for a split second and then bang they are gone. My Dad for instance solves really complex maths related stuff in his dre…

Some things change, some stay the same. I really enjoyed my years here. Life got in the way and I stopped coming. Facebook, as much as I....have mixed feelings for it, I use it multiple times a day. I have a lot of my old school watmm friends on there, including more than a few I've met irl, either to play a show or just chill. I know I'm missing some however. At any rate, sorry for the shit post, just feeling nostalgic. I went to gen ban and it was all 1000 page threads so that was kinda odd. Anyhow if we used to be cool and what not, lets reconnect eh?

Hi all, sorry to duck in like some kind of subatomic particle, but I lost the picture of the boy and the girl yelling at each other on the phone about how one of them knew so much more about fft and fourier and carrier waves than the other and it is a tragic hole in my life. Can anyone fill that hole? Much love, A/D

Bear with me here...we're 7 days away from the date that BTTF Part II took place, and what have we accomplished? Well, Zemeckis and Spielberg were right on a few things, and way off on some more. Widescreen TVs: everyone has one now Fax machines: gone the way of the dinosaur Flying Cars: available to only the super rich, and still have not been licensed by the FAA 3D IMAX: alive and well, and The Walk by Robert Zemeckis only confirms his dedication to the format Hydrator: a little off but I have an inverter microwave which cooks things excellently most of the time Cosmetic Surgery: Alive and well as the Kardashians can attest to …

In another recent thread this issue was brought up by a couple of posters. It's an interesting topic, especially as neuroscience is still a relatively new (relatively you hard determinists). While some would have you believe there is pretty much consensus among the neuroscience community, it seems from doing some brief reading that there is not. These two article I found to be useful reading: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/psych-unseen/201411/the-neuroscience-free-will-and-the-illusion-you http://www.philosophytalk.org/community/blog/laura-maguire/2015/08/does-neuroscience-threaten-free-will I'll post more of my own comments later, but for now, my …

So I got this job at a gaming corporation that isn't allowing me to listen to music or anything not work-related while working, but I found a way to do it and I am going to do it, but alot of people are passing by my desk all day, so it should be left in a tab and let it roll all day, or at least between pauses, which allow us to do (almost) anything on the internet. Sorry for the long intro, I just need some good lectures/debates/documentaries which don't require viewing them for you to understand them/etc. I listened to the bill nye vs ken hamm debate today and it was pretty interesting. I would require your input.

This would usually go in the Recent Films thread, but Tarantino is such a singular figure in film, and we discuss him enough I thought it warranted more discussion. He recently addressed his filmography in terms of unified universe(s) that fans have been speculating about for years, basically it breaks down into two continuities; the real world, and the movies inside that real world, I.E. From Dusk til Dawn, and the Kill Bill films are fictionalized works inside his real world. It breaks down like this: Django Unchained - takes place in 1858-1859 The Hateful Eight - takes place sometime in the 1870s Inglourious Basterds - takes place 1941-1944 Resevoir Dogs - takes…
