Hello Currently using a Critter & Guitari Eyesy, it's wonderful. Patch changing via-receiving MIDI Program Changes opens it up a lot. LFO's to control parameters opens it even further. Currently I'm using a Squarp Pyramid to achieve that and while its wonderful, its way too powerful for it and I'd rather use it elsewhere. So, I am looking for a hardware MIDI controller that matches as many of this list as possible: 1. Small (like a Shruthi) 2. Can create MIDI LFO's that control either CC's or PC's 3. Standalone. No Eurorack for this (want it to be more portable and the rest of the video setup isn't Eurorack either). 4. Hopefully cheap …

I'll start. I had an Alesis Midiverb 2 and sold it for next to nothing to a mate and the Volca Keys was nice too and I sold that for not much but then they're dime and dozen. Also had a Yamaha RX-15 which I gave away for free when I should just got it fixed but I figured it was worth nothing. And a long long time ago I had a Roland TR606 but didn't keep it because I couldn't figure out how to incorporate it into my set up. Ha ha regretting getting rid everything!!!

Hi folks! Those of you that are signed to label - could you share your experience? How did you find a label that fits your style or were you found/discovered? 🙂 Were you introduced to each other via common networks? Tell us about your experience! I think most of us are eager to get their music heard more. We can utilize this thread to recommend labels that are looking for artists based on genre as well.

https://przekroj.pl/en/culture/22-24 “Piotr: “Aphex recently told us that he loves trackers. It turned out we’d been watching the same old YouTube videos of trackers at the same time, including the one I had on floppy disk as a kid. We’re doing a project together in the autumn, for a premiere. I’m so excited.” But shh, don’t tell anyone!”

I'm tending to prefer Youtube these days for uploading tunes. I know its a bit of a pain having to create a video even its basic but I'm finding the audience is bigger etc and there's no limit. I'm just not seeing a huge benefit in Soundcloud much anymore. Certainly not prepared to pay £7.50 when I already have a Youtube Premium account!!! Thoughts???

Just purchased my first case and synth modules. I got the Polyend Poly 2 for expanding my modulation options but I hit a bit of a snag today when trying to get it up and running. For whatever reason, it doesn't appear to be receiving midi via the 3.5mm midi jack. I plugged the same midi into one of my synths and it worked fine, but not with the poly 2. After a couple of hours, I had the bright idea to try the USB connection, and it immidiately started working. I'm fairly new to modular and wasn't certain if I might be doing something incorrectly. Anyone have any insight?

The best way to do this is obviously not to listen to your track for a week or a month (the longer the better) then take notes on ways it needs to be changed, because before long your ears will stop hearing the mistakes. Or at least my ears. Another way I've found to clean out the subjectivity gunk is to listen to it in another medium. Like if you're mixing in headphones, you can listen to it on stereo, or even mono on your phone. Both are good for spotting the 'mistakes' or parts that could be improved. By the way I am talking both composition and mixing mistakes. Perhaps different methods work better for different topics? Any other methods?

I am sure you read this many times before. But here we go. I am planning to start a new vinyl label and taking submissions now. Feel free to send everything genre wise that you consider worth submitting. Make sure to submit at least 30 minutes of music. And please share it via wetransfer or similar and send the link via message. I am a former member of this forum when it was still called joyrex and ran a netlabel between 2004-2010 that some of you might remember.

I've been dabbling around in various digital art styles lately and I've been having a lot of fun with it even though I'm very much an amateur. Anyway, if you have stuff you want to release and need cover art for it I'm happy to take a crack at it if you can give me some idea of what you're looking for. It's just for fun and I won't be offended if you don't like my ideas.

So I was browsing through a pawn shop around here the other day and noticed they got a Zoom H4N recorder sitting on the shelf and they're only asking $74 for it. If I remember right they usually go for about 200 more than that. I didn't have the money at the time but considering the area it's in I don't think anyone's gonna be swooping in for audio gear anytime soon. I'm thinking I may go pick it up with my next paycheck.... Anyways. anyone have any experience using these? How are they? Is it as much of a steal as it seems for $74? Also I've never really purchased gear from a pawn shop before should I be hesitant or go for it?

Bpm isn't something I pay attention to. Most of the music I made in the past I didn't even change from default 120. I know that lots of hip hop is 90 bpm. What speed does dancier stuff start at ? I really don't know. What do you guys like to use ? And do you prefer making slower music or fast music ?

How are you, people? Does anyone have any kind of references about which music libraries are good to include our compositions and which are not? From what I've seen there is a lot of sketchy sites and quite dubiously written "exclusive" contracts. I'm asking you guys because I've been offered an exclusivity contract with the company "Soundscape.io", and there's not much information about their services in the online realm of things..

Hey all I want to get a new soundcard with preferably 4 inputs. I'm looking at this Behringer UMC404HD Audio Interface but I'm also looking at Focusrite interfaces. What do you think as I want something that's going to work well with Ableton 11 and my laptop? Thanks.

So we all know that the newfangled thing is to cheat and not buy real oldschool tube gear or effects VSTs or whatever, but just pass some sine waves through it to capture an impulse response and use that instead. From what I understand, the IR is just some audio stems that kind of encode an EQ response so that you can capture the "sound" of some hardware in a way. Coincidentally that's pretty much what I need for doing room correction EQ. Usually this means that I should run the correction VST on some laptop or whatever runs the software correction. But if I can just capture the IR, then it should be possible to load it into any piece of junk that can do ADC, DA…

I was going through some old tapes the other day and found a tonne of mental breakcore / jungle / drum n bass. Most of it terribly mixed but I may post some up. I don't know how I made those beats back then ha ha.

So, what's the deal? In theory it's safest to play within a scale? Playing along with chords sounds the nicest? Avoid short intervals?

Stumbled across this. Haven’t had a chance to watch it yet but even though I’m not a big gear demo fan I will have watch this whole thing for anthropological purposes. https://sonicstate.com/news/2021/03/19/presentation-polyend-tracker-with-bogdan-raczynski/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SonicstatecomNews+(Sonicstate.com+News)
