I have two things going around in my projects recently: The "Track 2" mystery. 2 identical MIDI tracks, with Arpeggiator, NoteModulator M4L device, then a MIDI rack with 6 Chord devices so I can run an arp and add some harmonic notes by fading up the rack knobs. The first track works as I expect it to: notes go in and go out to the hardware. There are no duplicate notes due to NoteModulator or any of the Chord instances. The 2nd track is outputting 6x noteon-noteoff for as it should (I assume one copy for each chord instance chain). In fact I notice that I have set up the MIDI rack in a stupid way so it actually does multiply the notes, but in this case why do…

i think with this latest video this unit is worthy of it's own thread. an hour long preproduction demo of just the in board music/sequencing capabilities of the unit. it doesn't cover unity video, dmx light, or external gear sequencing. holy shit this thing is going to be a dick load of fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuzMG1Wt_pE

On paper this is a great effect. It’s actually 2 effects, has 4 parameter for each one, and has chorus, tri chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and vibrato. i found a used one and have been running the cycles through it, and it sounds great, but recently I noticed a hi pitched ring coming from the pedal. I noticed a lot more when I switched it from a master insert effect to a mono insert on one channel. It varies depending on the algorithm, but once you hear it it’s impossible to unhear. a few possibilities: 1. It’s a bad unit 2. there’s a problem with using it with line level signals (but I have other tc effects with no problems) and I need some kind of …

So yamaha is putting something out. It's either gonna be a fun new take on analog/digital or it's going to be a (sigh) answer to the roland system-1 with the controller/VST combo... My money is on a digital recreation of the CS-80. So basically something that everyone wants, in a format that nobody wants that lacks voltage. I do understand that analog synths are not cheap to produce, but that's the reason they sound so good, is because of all the work that went into making them and pushing technology to its limit in the physical realm. Either way, discuss. Hopefully it's interesting. If I can hear quantizing in a filter sweep from it I will personally shoot the mo…

Hey ! I’m pretty sure you guys can help. I candidly bought an i9 9900k CPU... to eventually realize I need to update my MOBO. I’d love not to spend a fortune getting a new one. Ideally it’d be a micro ATX MOBO, and as a bonus, hackintosh friendly (even though it’s likely I’ll permanently switch to Windows 10 Pro as my first tests with the OS are surprisingly positive). I don’t really plan to OC, might be cool if I can but I don’t mind really. Another solution would be to go ATX and get a new case, but I’ll happily avoid the expense if I can. I plan to use my current PSU, GPU ans SSDs. I’ll have to buy RAM (my sessions are CPU crunchers but no…

So my question is the following, this is hypothetical as I have not yet acquired any gear. I want to be able to have my PC and my turntable connected to one source that can pipe both to active speakers. Is there an USB audio interface that can handle the sound from my PC and also take a connection from a turntable (pre-amp if necessary in between the TT and audio interface)?

Hey guys, does anyone know if theres a service (pref based in the UK) that could replace the pots on a tt303 v1 with something more sturdy. I love the thing to the end of the world but the knobs arent quite the most confidence boosting. after a few years of pretty heavy studio use and planning on using it live, id love to feel a bit more secure on those knobs. Appreciate any pointers, watmm. Cheers!

I just downloaded Bitter Sweet V3 by Flux. I think this is what I want to use to add some punch to drums that are a bit flat. I was actually inspired by Gwem's recent video. Let me know y'all what you think. Cheers.

Love the sound of this one, but don't want to spend a fortune on an overpriced 2nd hand 707. As the sounds are all digital, maybe I could get a sampler or something? if anyone knows of a nice machine that has (sort of) the same hands on feel then I'd love to hear recommendations. I could also use my laptop and play the 707 sounds from that, but I tried and it sux tbf. Thanks in advance!

This was one of the best modular software synths before it was halted by the developer after he got bought out by NI to re-write reaktor's internals using his knowledge/code from writing sync.(or something like that, its been a while since i've heard the story) Now NI have decided to let him release it for free. http://www.syncmodular.com/ sorry if this was already posted.

I figured since people here use MacOS and also like obscure old software for audio fuckery, then it's really important to note that if you update to Catalina, all your old 32 bit apps will stop working. It seems that this applies to all apps that give you a "this app is not optimized for your Mac" warning. I occasionally get this stuff when opening MOTU software and Ableton Live, so it's probably going to mess a lot of stuff up. More on this here https://www.macrumors.com/guide/32-bit-mac-apps/

Hey all is anyone using SoundCloud Go+. It's on offer for 99p for 3 months for say another 36 hours. I think it might be decent for integrating with Traktor DJ2 as I have the SL2 MK3 too. Thoughts?

Windows Defender keeps blocking it and automatically deleting the .exe file. Nothing I do can change that. I used it before the latest updates and it was fine. Very strange.

Anyone buying (music related-)gear stuff from Ali express or other Chinese wholesalers? Experiences, tips/warnings are welcome! Bit the bullet a while ago with a cheap contact mic, 8 inch hangdrum and wireless receivers. The transmitter/receivers work great hooking up gear to sample without using cables. I was pleasantly surprised with the price/quality ratio, as in it is cheap, works and actually shipped from tjChinah. Don't think I'll do 200+ euro's stuff as you'll have to pay taxes, clearance costs at customs for everything above 150,- and stuff is a bitch to return when turning up faulty, but for small stuff I think it is quite good. Got an electric kalimb…

Well godarn, it appeared as if my phone went to sleep but audio was recorded lmao. Just practicing for eventual live performance. I would live to do IDM/dnb/glitchiness sets. Tho too bad I'm in bumfuck small town Ontario where its not really popular. Turns out improv is a skill. Any tips and or tricks? Like, there's a hell of a lot to master and practice I believe before I am ever ready and I don't think I'll ever get toa. perfect point, but with my APC and Push 2 I can try and get as close as possible. Already using dummy clips on my Push 2 to trigger glitch fx, mainly thru Looperator, all set up within a device rack with. a few other fx, all macro'd to the rack…

I want to be able to set my monitors/phones volume to a predefined level so if I go through with calibrating my monitors to correspond to a nice level for mixing then I can come back to it later on and be consistent in my levels. I use my setup for general listening as well so I keep jiggling the main multipurpose knob (which is a digital encoder so I can't mark a good position anywhere). In CueMix (the MOTU virtual mixer console software) there is no numeric indicator for the master level which would be nice to be able to come back to. I tried enabling some TouchOSC control surface option but that did not work at all and I had to hard reset the interface so I d…
