Well not exactly an equivalent. Just wondering as WATMM has been useful in getting my music out there. I am wanting to help a friend of mine by finding a forum kind of like WATMM, but instead of electronic music, it's more guitar/indie/acoustic music. Think Sufjan Stevens.

Not sure if these have been discussed on Watmm, but highly recommended for anyone who like me, loves using presets and altering them slightly instead of crafting everything from ground up. Movement im not fond of, but Portal and Thermal are absolutely wild. You just create an idea, then mix presets, fiddle, drum buss compress, fantastic. Theyre available on splice for a monthly 10 bucks. Portal is a granular delay/pitch modulator, Thermal is a three stage distortion/filter module. Highly recommended by me. here is a little snippet of lofi slow house i made in 30 minutes to demonstrate how quickly you you can get some nice movement going w…

Figure this is as good a start as any around 2006 I tried a virtual synth called Modelonia by Nusofting (makers of a venerable Karplus Strong plucked synth called Harptime) and thought it had the sickest brass sounds I've ever heard synthesized, before I heard any Xoxos plugins for that matter. It created a lasting impression on my mind. Modelonia 2 is close to being released and there is a public beta. http://www.nusofting.liqihsynth.com/modelonia.html for anyone not familiar with physical modeling synths, simply try the plugin, try a bunch of presets, listen to the dynamics and do a doubletake at the filesize of the plugin.

Alright, I need a new audio interface, as my old xp desktop shit the bed and my sound card was PCI which doesnt exist anymore (and even if it did I dont want another desktop) My criteria is: 1u rackmount At least 8x i/o line level. Only really need one mic pre (probably could make do without altogether). 2x midi i/o USB (type c would be good...although that's just cos i have an unused usb c port) I don't really need any fancy shit on the front, nobs and lights etc. Although they all seem to have this. As much of the inputs in the back as possible, I fucking hate seeing cables and want it all hidden. Fanx for your recs in…

i'm having an issue in logic that i could really do with some help with: my project files are bloating to insane levels for seemingly no reason. they're clocking in around 80–100gb by the time i've finished making a track. i've made sure to delete unused audio files, clear any backups, etc, but the file size stays the same. digging around inside the files shows me that audio files are becoming huge – i'm looking at a bunch that are 4.26gb in this project (different instruments recorded on different tracks but all exactly the same size). i've tried saving as a folder instead of a project, but both end up the same. i can fix things by saving as a new fol…

Hello, all. Couldn't find a thread dedicated to this new sequencer I just found out about, so I figured I'd start one out. It looks amazing. It seems to have everything I ever wanted in a hardware sequencer: midi fx - especially MIDI delay -- you can make some whack shit with MIDI delay and a monosynth long pattern length - Why is it always just 64 steps? How about 64 bars? Yeah that's more like it. individual lengths and time signatures cv and midi - strangely only looks like 1 or two outputs, unfortunately. For something that looks to bill itself as a central hub for MIDI output that seems a little silly use of standard MIDI files - so I can just drop them in t…

Years back, I used a cracked version of Live for a lot of my music, and while I'm mostly comfortable with Reaper and VSTs now, the one effect I really miss is Ableton's Resonator, particularly applied to field recordings to give them rich tonality and a dub-techno feel. So... can anyone recommend any VSTs that do the same thing? Don't really want to spend £350 on Ableton just for one effect (nor can I afford to), but I'm happy to splash out for a single VST at a sensible price. Or free, y'know. Free is always good. Any recs?

Executive summary: a weird shady company - that is kind of connected with Spotify - is putting music on Spotify with artists that don't really exist - those artists have millions of streams and show up on official playlists. End result is that "real" artists end up getting less payout from Spotify because of how the $$$ per one stream is calculated.

So I'll try to keep this succint. I have a early 2000s era PC with Windows XP I inherited and want to make music with it. Since I'll be mostly be doing plunderphonics oriented loop and beat scene stuff, mostly using old tape decks and players, so I don't need anything fancy. I had a copy of Ableton I got second hand but never did much with it. I had garage band and Rebirth in the past but using those is not an option. I want to try to minimize my setup and stick with familiarity which includes using my Tascam TL-122S So I'm looking for the following immediately: - An equivalent to this as an audio interface: Tascam Us-122l USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Computer Interface…

During the past year I have found it really useful to have a bunch of tricks to generate a melody out of some random numbers generated by my friendly computer. It's nice for kickstarting inspiration and also for just discovering new melodies and rhythms that you otherwise would not have figured out. Here's a plugin I made this week out of Live built in MIDI stuff. https://www.dropbox.com/s/a7329u4qhugs7et/Mondo Generator.adg?dl=0 And here's the track I made with it:

Do you ever feel that girls get more attention when they make music than us guys? I'm not hating but I just feel its unfair and kinda shallow. My view is if you're talented you deserve the proper attention / respect and if you're not then I guess you don't. What do you lot of think? I just got cheesed off because a girl put up a track on Facebook page that I'm part of and it garnered tonnes of attention / listens where as when I put something up about an hour later no one listened to it. Seems kinda unfair. Anyways that's just my 2 cents. Hope you all have a great new year. Blessings from The Bro.

So, I'm curious about how people organize their work. I've been organizing all my files by month. Every month gest a new folder. Do you organize by style? until you hit a track limit? A theme? How does one deside that a certain collection gets published? I'm curious.

I find that stress is generally my default mood, especially when trying to get myself into the studio. Once I'm in the groove, I usually start to have a good time and hours will fly by (especially if I don't immediately hate what I'm working on Lately I try to tell myself to have no expectations and just have fun in order to get in the right mind frame before starting on the work. This has been helping, but it's definitely a case of talking myself out of my "normal" mode - which is stress and a fear of failure. This isn't how it used to be when I started making music 20-some-odd years ago. I want to somehow get back to that natural feeling of excitement and wond…
