There have got to be others here who watch this show like it was Game of Thrones or something. The new season of All Stars is nuts, they must be doing some kind of messed up sociological experiment with drag queens. I can't stop. Can we please talk about the gayness? (ganus?)

100% silk is a great label run by some super nice people. This is terrible news. Nine dead in fire at 100% Silk party in Oakland I can't imagine selling records is what they're thinking about now, but supporting them seems like the right thing to do from here. Here are links to their Soundcloud and their shop.

Seriously, WTF is this trash. Blac Chyna? Fuck you for choosing such a stupid name. And you named your infant Dream? You ruined that fucking baby's life you dumbshits. And fuck anybody with the last name Kardashian. A fucking cow has a higher IQ than you stupid fucks combined. Fuck this brainless, tasteless, materialistic, pretentious, hollow, anti-intellectual American pop-culture sewage in its worthless ass. Apologies for the rant, but it's just disturbing what the ramifications are from a cultural standpoint. It's like our evolution as a species has passed its peak and this is a sign of our decline. I sincerely hope someone can prove otherwise.

All, Any ideas on what may be causing this hum? Just started today. I've not changed any wiring/settings etc. This hum occurs only on whatever input the turntable is plugged into, I tried it on various. I've checked the ground, wiring, etc. The hum also occurs regardless of the cart that's plugged in. Edit: I meant whether the needle is plugged in or not. Other devices = no hum. =/ I checked the cart wiring and there's no change to the hum when playing with the wiring + it all looks good. Tried moving the table away from all other power sources + tried plugging the table into various outlets in case it was that. Do I need a new cart maybe? htt…

I have a top-end macbook I purchased back in June and love the thing to death. Super fast, long battery life, great retina display, ect. The past month or so I've noticed a dip in performance and pinpointed it to a process/plugin named 'google chrome helper' This shit will be eating 75%+ of my CPU with just a tab or two open in the browser while heating up my gear in a serious manner. Tried toggling some settings (the 'click to play' thing isn't an option like I've seen online, my chrome browser has no such option in the advanced content settings) and nothing got better. So I just shut down chrome and started using safari. Problem solved, battery life went way up…

I've been hearing troubling rumours that Keanu Reeves is now in a wheelchair for reasons not mentioned. Maybe someone has photos of him in a wheelchair?

So I've got a turn in life that is forcing me to move within the next two-ish weeks. I've got a couple of 'safe' options: 1) move back in with my parents or back to their city where I know people, can get a shitty job, etc., but I lived there for years and it's a relatively small city in Louisiana and I'm really concerned I'll get stuck there wallowing in the past and old long-dead friendships trying to zombie that shit and that sounds miserable and I'm worried that'll lead to years of the same old bullshit. 2) move to New Orleans where I know quite a few people well and could probably get help with finding somewhere decent to rent/work, but New Orleans is a b…

yeah, I guess it's quite an obvious answer. But it still bugs me. very often when I'm looking for things, music, videos, images and so forth - there has been so little effort made to capture anything that came before Tim Berners-Lee had that idea. It seems like we're swamped and drowning in the here and now but the past seems so quickly forgotten. This isn't the internet we were promised. </ old man rant>

This year's MOST IDM champion is.... [drumroll/snarerush...] Wearing headphones without listening to anything Join me in either celebrating, protesting, or whatever in between. Let it all out folks, it's been an emotional rollercoaster. This year's brackets took place a long time after the brainstorming begun. We started with more suggestions, and it all narrowed down into the tightest race I've seen so far. Also, the top seed won, which I don't think I've seen before either... In accordance with the customs of our people, I'll put together a thread for this season's MOST IDM compilation, which will be called "Tribute to Wearing Headphones with…

Hey I was wondering if anyone here had any experience promoting small business - something like a music label or clothing store, that type of thing? I have a site to sell t-shirts (i know! there's already too many of those) The products and the site are ready to go but i don't really have any plans for "marketing". Anyone actually buy ads on Facebook or Google? It's really hard to tell if I'd just be throwing my money away with these things.

Doesn't it seem like mechanical, boring, predictable music can be non-IDM, such as trash pumped out for mass consumption without any nuance? Isn't it interesting how weird sloppily rhythmic and melodic sounds like AE_LIVE can be far more pleasurable when you're in a certain mood, in a subtle "IDM" type of way? It has an organic feel despite being electronically generated and therefore conforming to certain timbre types This will sound weird, Listen to the sounds of mental retards babbling or the insane talking. Syntactically and structurally analyze it and make music from the structure, with different timbres and melodic and rhythmic events and timbre modulati…

Here in the States, the day after Thanksgiving Day (which is the last Thursday in November has become known as "Black Friday", where stores online and offline have incredible (and not so incredible) deals on items in the lead up to Christmas. I just read an article that Singles Day in China (Nov. 11) is similar, and the online retailer Alibaba racked up 1 billion USD (6+ billion Yuan) in sales in under 5 minutes! Does your country have a similar shopping holiday, and is it worth it? In typical American style, we've taken the whole Black Friday thing to another level, with stores opening on Thanksgiving Day (which used to be where all stores were closed, and yo…
