Burial - Streetlands

This shit is great just like Antidawn but I find myself revisiting these ambient tracks less than his beat-heavy works. Well see what this release does. It's still very nice rainy winter music and maybe it's even better than antidawn

It's decent IMO. Nice cinematic vibes. Blade Runner. Kuedo. But I wish he could build a track around fewer ideas, and just trust the atmospheres he builds up instead of the constant shifting and cutting in his tracks.

Really nice on 1st listen. Though not going to lie was a bit disappointed full on ambient again.

As much as I love Anti-Dawn (and think I will fall in love with this after more listens) I'm ready for some beat driven Burial again!

My burial-obsessed friend sent this to me in a record time of 7 minutes after its release, needless to say it's amazing as usual.

just make some fucking beats

+1 - I love burial ambient but beats are also severely needed.

Absolutely fucking terrible lol.

Wait, worse than terrible, that would actually be interesting. Mediocre is more accurate.

A sub par enigma ep, fished out the CD bargain bin in Woolworths. oops, already made it sound more interesting than it actually is.

Still, kudos to him for stockholm syndrom-ing his fans this hard.

Download audacity today and you can make this shit for yourself by the yard and save your money. Austerity is upon us after all.

Day when such a talented artist releases new music it's a great day. Thank you dear Voiron for this EP!

What does this have to do with Burial? (Honest question, I am not deeply invested into the Burial lore...)

Perhaps it's a joke that went over my head. Either way, that Vorion EP is banging, deserves its own thread.

Woke up early this morning (stupid body clock thinking it's a work day) & listening to this falling into a half sleep hypnagogia state was fucking awesome...maybe more ambient Burial was exactly what I needed...(still maybe bring some beats next time Billy Boy! ;))

Ohh & yeah the link to another person's stuff in burial thread clearly for lols isn't it...the joke being that people get wet for new Burial when better stuff being released no one cares about...(not that I think that but get where they are coming from)

first track is decent

the other two have some interesting moments but are just too much on that pastiche thing. the pastiche for effect works much better when used sparingly. when the whole track is a pastiche it makes it feel cheap/lazy/boring to my ears. i don't hear the path of the song/story easily on those. maybe they're meant for being high, or just more as background music? idk. never bought any Burial, this one ain't changing my mind.

The tracks are far too long and filled out with far too much poncey urban new age guff. First track finished a few minutes ago, sounded like a meaningless pastiche of Beach Fires and New State Forest, and I think pretty much instantly forgettable. The second track gets really interesting at the 8 minute mark...so what's the point of that then? Then goes down the toilet again big style.

Sometimes he creates an interesting and unique few minutes of sound but then he does nothing with it imo. And wastes it.

Though Exokind sounds better.

It's not that I dislike Burial's ambient works per se, it's moreso that a lot of what was interesting about his music in the first place was also in the programming and sound design of the percussion. I don't hate his ambient pieces, but it's certainly not the guy's forte or what I listen to his works for.

I should go outside and put on my headphones and play Exokind and watch the Diwali fireworks and breathe in the effervescent misty vibes.

Exokind is one the best ambient tracks he's released in my opinion. For me it's up there with beachfires and subtemple. (I know it's probably an unpopular opinion to like those tracks but hey)

Hiya, longtime lurker, virgin poster here! Is there some Kiefer Sutherland in the air? Been following label Pacific Plaza for a while and listening to this band Goamae a lot lately and they use the same Kiefer (The Lost Boys fame) "Be one of us" dialogue as a narrative element too (a bit like in Exokind) in tracks 4 & 5 on their new album released earlier this fall:

I mean just checked new Burial and was just baffled by the odds when it occured. ? And oh no, not in the band but def a friend of the duo.
