The DCist has a fascinating look at resorts in the Poconos how they looked as depicted on 1960's postcards and how they look today: http://dcist.com/2017/08/abandoned_postcards_poconos_catskills_animations.php This building is really, really cool:

anyone ride/ridden a motorbike as their main mode of transport? what kind? how do you like it and what are your reasons for doing it? etc I'm in the process of learning it and getting licensed. had a riders' course today and did pretty bad at it, honestly speaking. it wasn't even a test, just a learning course I got as far as doing a few laps in first gear before I fucked up the controls and accelerated suddenly, losing control and wiping out. also balancing was harder than I thought it would be. I'd ridden a pushbike a lot as a kid and figured it'd just work out, but not so. still, I'm pushing on and trying again. I'm pretty keen to do this, in spite of the sign…

So I sit here in Houston awaiting the deluge....listening to some Colours of Infinity at the moment. Strangely calm at the moment but won't be in a day or two. How are my other Texas WATMMers doing?

A friend of mine is working on a game, and it's just gone up on Steam Greenlight. I'm working on the soundtrack for it (in my duo, The Casuist) and it's coming along quite nicely, so I'd appreciate it if you all could go and click on the YES button at the following link: http://bit.ly/mysterygreenlight thanks guys!

From the cheap npr imitations of aphex to the boom bap interludes. It's everywhere. Prepare for it to go underground soon.

Soooooooooooooooooo many to choose from!!! I used to have Sony MDR-EX300 but they broke and i bought some Jays a-Jay One's cause i was in town and needed some. I like the flat cable on the jays cause it's tangle free but the cable is noisy and the sound quality is average! What do you reccomend?

in this thread we post our top five films. please provide reasons why instead of just posting a list. akira kurosawa made this right before seven samurai and it remains his strongest and most emotional film. it's about a bureaucrat who finds out he has stomach cancer and realizes his life up to that point has been meaningless. roger ebert wrote a very good review of it for his great movies series of articles, so i'll just quote that: the most deeply flawed movie on my list. i read the moebius comic "the long tomorrow" when i was in elementary school and was always taken by its aesthetic. when i picked up the blu ray of blade runner, i realized just…

Here's a tip: if you have some mediocre tracks, release them on a super-limited, very expensive format. It'll appear to be better tracks, according to science :) There's actually evidence that information about price influences your appreciation of wine. no surprises here, I guess. What surprised me however, was the bluntness of the neural correlates. If a certain brain region is activated, you'll appreciate something more. And how can you control activating that region? Well, just saying something is expensive will help a great deal. And all those crappy franchise movies? You might like them better if they were more expensive to produce. Good to k…

Ho ho ho! What can cap off a nightmarish year better than receiving a gift from a weirdo who posts on an IDM message board that now knows where you live? Get involved one and all! (no n00bs allowed) Everyone done a blinding job last year so lets have a repeat please, anyone that doesn't buy a gift will be named and shamed at the end of January then banned from the Secret Santa for the next three years, if I remember.

So, for about a month some guy's been randomly publishing excerpts or fragments of a story on reddit. It's pretty awesome. You can read an excerpt and some context at http://motherboard.vice.com/read/flesh-interface And you can read the whole narrative so far at https://www.reddit.com/r/9M9H9E9/wiki/narrative It's a mix of sort of Cronenberg-y body horror, Lovecraftian stuff, and maybe a hint of Charles Stross or SCP Foundation. Interesting project.

Yo, mangz and mangettez. So I've been working with a programmer for awhile to develop some next-level things to help humanity, and this is our most recent project that has finally hit version 1.0: BLISST Simple tool to sell yo tangz, no contracts, no upfront costs, Earth-level most affordable fees of all time (automatic deduction and instant payout for sales), quick and easy, create an item and propagate your networks, with no ties to brands that aren't the self. Currently we only support USD, so there is that, and the current price limit is $1,000, so there is also that. There are many refinements and additions we'll be working on over the months, but I'm v…
