I just got John Coltrane's A Love Supreme as well as Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. Can anyone here make other suggestions of great jazz albums? Never knew I would like jazz but in fact I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Dunno if this has been done or if it will work. Same thing as the film thread, except with albums. Rule: You must've listened through the whole album recently. Don't talk about some album you had heard a year ago, or an album where you've heard a couple of tracks out of from some playlist or whilst shuffling your library. Also, it'd be nice if you gave us some sort of idea what the genre is, or what it sounds like. Anyways, here goes. Oval's Wohnton (1992): 7/10 It's essentially Oval's later glitch sound mixed with Trip-Hop and a German vocalist. As a result, it's a lot more accessible than Oval's other work. I'll have to give it another listen through.

Maybe I'm late to the party here, but I had no idea this thing existed. I was over in the Grusch listening session and Mike P dropped this link for this project that contains many of his tunes. Needless to say - I'm pretty blown away as a self-admitted 90s IDM nerd. https://thedeepark.com/ “…more like a remixtape than a selection of tracks segueing seamlessly one after the other. More often than not, the components have been partially disassembled – moving parts rejiggered, tempos tinkered, keys tweaked–before being jigsawed back into perfectly annealed alignment… Listening to the entire length and breadth of The Deep Ark, you get a powerful sense o…

Anyone else really into unrelenting hard techno? I still love melodic IDM just as much, but lately I've been inspired by tracks where melody is an afterthought or discarded outright. Texture and rhythm have taken its place. This stuff sounds amazing in a club, provided you remembered your earplugs!

Hi all. I realized music that sounds like spiritual, etheric ambient glitch/techno is the type of music that my mind resonates with the most. Some examples might be Oval, Vladislav Delay, SND, Visible Cloaks, Huerco S., etc. Do you know something similar? Can be visuals too. https://www.webdesignmuseum.org/flash-websites/sixstation-2002

(Let me preface this thread: If you don't like this kind of music gtfo, this is strictly for appreciation and sharing) Particularly I've been listening to a lot of old Decapitated...their first album Winds of Creation imo is the best technical death metal album ever made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x43_UPVH7Wc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGCO9LmrnXQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Bk6hoZRGLs Now it's your turn!

We have a jazz thead. Why souldn't we have a Hip Hop/Rap thread aswell? When i was younger.. All i listened to was hip hop. I haven't listened or been into for a couple of years now, but i'm starting to get into it again. It's genre which contain some of the best and worst music ever made. I can understand why some people love it, and why some people hate it. But awful rap music seems to be a more nowadays kind of thing, so much amazing rap music was made in the 80's & 90's. We've had a few zine related threads in the past, but there is a resurgence of private press books coming out, so better to collate them all in one thread. in the past 20 years we've gone from the East Coast vs West Coast debacle, to Nicki Minaj vs Iggy Azalea, lol. It's a new century for sure, a lot more entertaining (we need a break from reality lite than ever as the earth descends into chaos) and a lot more lighthearted. It's a sexy rap war oooh! and leave it to women to bring it on, sweet.

I'm currently listening to Microgravity. The "reissue with bonus album" edition. And I'm wondering what you guys' (inclusive for all genders and sexes!) favourite Biosphere album is. Mine is probably either Microgravity or Patashnik. Never been properly grabbed by his more concept/ambient releases. So I might be missing out massively. And, to be fair, if you're into 90s artificial intelligence IDM, both of these are rather obvious choices. A bit too obvious perhaps. Because the period and style are pretty on the nose. If you also love his older albums, leave a shout. And more importantly, add suggestions for the people who got their head stuck in the early 90s (…

As a big fan of US Hip-Hop during the golden years of Public Enemy, NWA, Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan, I kind of lost interest when it became more about the money, mainstream success and high production values. Step forward to 1999 and an album that past me by at the time - MF Doom Operation: Doomsday. In fact I only got to know DOOM by 2004 when he released Madvillain with Madlib and for me it was a real revelation mixing the abstract lyrics of Kool Keith with the production I've been craving since RZA when he was top of his game. Still don't listen to much US Hip-Hop but this guy is just the best, pioneering the US underground since 93 and hi…

I'm surprised to be unable to find a thread on this release. This album is an absolute mood if you haven't given it a spin. This track in particular is one of my favorite tracks they've ever recorded:

Afrobeat only turns up 9 hits on watmm, so I figured I'd make this thread in celebration of one of the greatest musicians of all time, Fela Kuti. Fela Anikulapo Kuti (1938 — 1997), or simply Fela, was a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, pioneer of Afrobeat music, and human rights activist. - Wikipedia Fela Kuti & Egypt 80 - CBB (Confusion Break Bones) [youtubehd]BBD2CXMBWQ4[/youtubehd] Deadi bodi geti accidenti. And why not. I think we need a Drexciya thread pinned in GB as this music is the music that all need to hear. If you don't know Drexciya then you probably only like Ganjasufi and Grizzly Bear so fuck you. I'm listening to Triangular Hydrogen and my dick is rock hard. ROCK HARD. Amazing music.

Inspired by the "what got you into music" thread, I decided to expand on the video game music discussion. There's some real classic electronic music contained in old videogames, and probably lots of things people haven't heard. I'm not really into chiptunes, or listen to that kind of 8bit style at all, but that kind of discussion would be good too. Also someone posted some sonic/michael jackson remixes a while back which I thought was awesome but haven't been able to find it again. Some of the best videogame music I've heard was from a PC game in 1993 called SkyRoads, and it was actually a huge technical error that somehow made the music better than how it was origina…
