Let's keep topics about the new forum limited to this thread - if it becomes a big thing, we could consider a subforum, or start up a bug tracking database (although there really shouldn't be any bugs per se)...

Since the old thread got too long and took ages to load, we continue forth (think of it as a sequel, to use a movie metaphor).

I'm (still!) currently reading Thomas Pynchon's Against the Day but took a break in between to read Don DeLillo's Great Jones Street and Horace Walpole's The Castle of Otranto, the first gothic horror novel. Anyone reading anything cool at the moment? Don't even say it's the fuckin' Kite Runner

I just finished watching all the seasons of Tim & Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job. Goddamn hilarious. And I've started watching Sons Of Anarchy. Reminds me alot of The Sopranos, just with bikers of course. it's quite entertaining.

So I am considering (and have been for some time) of making the site subscription-only where unless you pay for a subscription, you will only see a limited amount of content (aka a paywall). I wish it could be free for everyone, but costs have (and continue) to go up over the years, now costing 100 USD per month to run this forum (thankfully the costs of the forum software is part of that). For a long time now (since 2013) all new members have been required to have a subscription, but an old loophole in the forum software allowed paying members whose subscriptions lapsed to continue to access the site. I am considering turning this off so if you are not a p…

Salvatorin died in his sleep this morning. Chatmm and beak are both reeling. He was posting in chatmm this morning when I got out of work. Unreal, so upsetting. Such a good dude. No idea what else to say.

Hello, WATMM forum. We don’t really know each other very well, but we have a common friend, known online as MIXL2 (although he changed his username here at some point to @YangYing). I’m here to let you know that MIXL2, or Miguel as I knew him, passed away on the 24th of April, and his funeral was held about a week ago. I figured you all should know, since Miguel was a long-time member and frequent poster on this forum - having joined a few years after I first got to know him in middle school. He always used to tell me about the shenanigans people on here were up to, shared many threads he found interesting, and even made me sign up (even though I'm not much for forum…

I've been watcing this show for the second time and have been catching so many more winks and incredible lines, bits of foreshadowing. This show is freakin' stupendous! Favorite characters and storylines?

I'm off these sites now. Haven't had a Facebook account for about 5 years, and haven't had a Twitter account for about 6 months. Never joined Instagram in the first place. It feels like I was standing in a room full of televisions that were turned up very loud and tuned to static, and I suddenly turned them all off. I find my attention span has increased greatly, as has my ability to focus. When I see something cool like a beautiful sunset, I can just enjoy it in the moment and not have to whip out my phone and document it so I can get blue thumbs & gold stars later. My friends think I'm crazy. I think they're losing part of their humanity (and very ob…

So this is going into production, despite relatively poor results of Blade Runner 2049 at the Box Office, which was critical for Villeneuve's version of Dune to happen. The casting so far is insane: Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Thimothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa... Unfortunately, Roger Deakins is not part of the projet this time, but the cinematography will be handled by Greg Fraser (Rogue One). Not sure Jodorowsky will have anything to do for the movie, but news are falling nearly every day since a few weeks. Scheduled for november 20th, 2020

Yesterday I accidentally watched Columbo and it got me thinking... Mark Ruffalo would make a great Columbo if they were to make a reboot. You know it’s true.

As a follow up to 2014's thread, 2015 is not starting too well with Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream and now Demis Roussos of Aphrodite's Child at the age of 68.

Time-Keeping In Britain, punctuality is quite important and people will expect you to arrive on time. This is especially true of formal meetings such as lectures and seminars, which are expected to start promptly. The only times when you will not be expected to arrive on time are casual social gatherings e.g. student parties where people usually arrive anywhere between 30 minutes - 4 hours after the 'official' start of the party! Social Behaviour Here are some very general guidelines of the differences you may find in social behaviour in the UK. They are not true for all people, as there are differences in personalities and individuals within a culture. There …
