I just got John Coltrane's A Love Supreme as well as Miles Davis' Kind of Blue. Can anyone here make other suggestions of great jazz albums? Never knew I would like jazz but in fact I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Dunno if this has been done or if it will work. Same thing as the film thread, except with albums. Rule: You must've listened through the whole album recently. Don't talk about some album you had heard a year ago, or an album where you've heard a couple of tracks out of from some playlist or whilst shuffling your library. Also, it'd be nice if you gave us some sort of idea what the genre is, or what it sounds like. Anyways, here goes. Oval's Wohnton (1992): 7/10 It's essentially Oval's later glitch sound mixed with Trip-Hop and a German vocalist. As a result, it's a lot more accessible than Oval's other work. I'll have to give it another listen through.

Every time there's a new release there's normally a fair bit of discussion in the relevant thread, so I thought it was about time to start a general FSOL thread. Also, I just started a new blog called Fractional Difference, in which I'll be going through every release and song, in order, and looking at various things... all the facts, connections with other tracks, and my own personal feelings about them. It's going to take forever (they released 180 tracks on the launch of FSOLDigital alone), but I'm quite looking forward to revisiting the whole catalogue over the next however long it takes. So far I've done an About page which explains my discovery of the band and …

So I did a search, and I didnt see any sort of main topic for exm or his music-- just those related to a release if he had one coming up-- so I figured id make an umbrella one for discussion on our favs of his discography, if that's alright. (btw: Riyl autechre, phoenecia, with some melodic work thrown in.) First off, Im a huge fan of the guys work, and so many of his releases have become top favorites of mine: Modulus, Overscore (+), more recently Comp, released this month (which is perfect for anyone new to his work imo), both this years self released works MMLXXVII and Odd Times are amazing as well and are definite growers, especially the prior LP. His coll…

We have a jazz thead. Why souldn't we have a Hip Hop/Rap thread aswell? When i was younger.. All i listened to was hip hop. I haven't listened or been into for a couple of years now, but i'm starting to get into it again. It's genre which contain some of the best and worst music ever made. I can understand why some people love it, and why some people hate it. But awful rap music seems to be a more nowadays kind of thing, so much amazing rap music was made in the 80's & 90's. I've wanted to do this thread for a while. Drone music has many faces, but often hard to find. I've never read anything in this forum about it, except for an old thread where the discussion was more focused into explaining the difference between ambient and drone instead of sharing rare and astonishing drone pieces. Would be great if this thread turns into a nice thing worthy of his pretentious title! I'll start showing what I mean with awesome drone music (in different styles) Classic: Less classic: Avant-garde: http://isakedberg.com/Λ.wav (fucking incredible) Anyone into this k…

in the past 20 years we've gone from the East Coast vs West Coast debacle, to Nicki Minaj vs Iggy Azalea, lol. It's a new century for sure, a lot more entertaining (we need a break from reality lite than ever as the earth descends into chaos) and a lot more lighthearted. It's a sexy rap war oooh! and leave it to women to bring it on, sweet.

https://cdm.link/2022/08/soundcloud-to-cut-1-in-5-employees-worldwide/ I definitely don't take any glee in people losing their jobs, but soundcloud has turned into such a garbage pile. It's amazing how bad it got. I had some kind of subscription to upload, and it was still spamming me constantly to switch to some other kind of subscription to upload and then another additional subscription to listen to stuff... and then started playing long adds when I'm just listening to some random person's music. I get they need to monetize the system but I would think having something people actually want to use would come first. Anywho, hope something like thi…

Alright WATMM..... We've been chatting in CHATMM and decided this thread should be dedicated to knowledge about Mattias Ostling and all of his aliases releases. There is no information about him on discogs, and his releases are scattered amongst many aliases and many different webpages. The ultimate goal of this thread is to get a reasonably accurate list of his aliases and releases under said aliases, and translate this over to discogs so that he may get more recognition. Dirqual - Sonic S&M Meltdown (2002) Neurophastic - Mi12Promo1 (2002) Crossdaddy Bonebags - Crossdaddy Bonebags (2002) Dirqual - Farm Sluts Gone Wild (2003) Dirqual - Toler…

Who's the person behind zvλd? I was listening to a lot of the stuff on the soundcloud that's up and really, really liked the tracks I heard, almost more so than a good deal of tunes coming out lately. Reminded me of little bits of loads of artists but arranged and done so by someone who knows what the fuck they are doing. https://soundcloud.com/occult-research/3v8zzzdg0hdk https://soundcloud.com/zvld/0hgpahdiwygn https://soundcloud.com/zvld/go-placid https://soundcloud.com/zvld/regen https://soundcloud.com/zvld/haunt https://soundcloud.com/zvld/waerd Anyone got a clue on this one? Either way, it's great tunes - give the soundcloud a listen too, there's lots o…

Remember that guy? He was quite tall. When I was properly getting into the whole IDM thing he was boshing out 3 albums a year. I really liked maybe 2 or 3 of them at the time but it was a little much output for me and I fell out of love with it pretty fast. I've been browsing Spotify today and dipped into a few tracks of his I used to enjoy and noticed he hasn't released an album in five years. What happened? Did he run out of ideas finally? 24 albums isn't a bad innings so I wouldn't blame him for not having anything new. I did a google and it seems like he tweeted about having run out of money or something. I hope he has money though and I hope it means he has been…

Lush Pads: The Thread 1 2 3 4 5

ok everyone, this is it. this is the thread for posting lush pads. i'm talking pads that are ether, emotion, cum. these are pads you almost can't hear so much as you feel. emotion. we want pads that make you cry, that make your stomach ache in such a sensual and beautiful way, that fill you with a sense of impossible longing. i'll start. string pad that comes in around 2:25 here is utterly unbelievable it's the definition of warmth: another one from the plaid brothers. a chorus strings pad that's like remembering so many things at once: the fsol brothers. damn this one is Pure Silk. the mix here is perfection. rolling beat, massive…

(Chuck Manson was like a proto-Vincent Gallo...some of it is, admittedly, really fucking good oh what could have been) (Jim Jones' People's Temple Choir...great stuff) (David Koresh, on the other hand, sucked...that DI guitar sound lol) it's suprisingly hard to search for music by cults and cult-leaders, as there are bands called both The Cults and Cult Leaders
